GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- It was a day of protests, promises and appointments for the Grand Junction City Council Monday.
The council welcomed four new members-- Marty Chazen, Phyllis Norris, Harry Butler and Rick Brainard-- during its swearing-in ceremony at City Hall.
As soon as the elected councilors took their seats, it was down to business. Their first order: appoint Sam Susuras as Grand Junction's newest mayor. Marty Chazen was selected as mayor pro tem; however, neither Bennett Boeschenstein nor Jim Doody were present for the voting.
During the ceremony, protestors against the election of Rick Brainard turned their backs on him as he spoke his oath.
