GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. TCAP scores are in, and many Mesa County schools have shown tremendous improvements from last year's performance.
Overall, the District 51 scored a 72% reading proficiency level that is up to par with statewide results, but many individual schools fall above or below this number.
Schools that have shown major improvements in reading proficiency credit their success to targeted reading programs.
“We've had consultants come into our building with all of our teachers, our staff members, and our students we really see the shift, the change in reading performance,” says Patti Virden of Rocky Mountain Elementary.
Clifton and Rocky Mountain Elementary Schools are the two schools showing the biggest improvements in District 51.
TCAP scores are used by teachers and administrators to gage lesson plans and programs for its specific students.
