GJ city council ready to vote on downtown plan

Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) – The greater downtown plan has been in the works for about a decade now, and after several public open houses, the city council is getting ready to vote on the plan this week .

At Monday’s city council readiness meeting, council members got detailed information on the plan.

If adopted, it would create three districts in the downtown area, including a rail and river district.

"This plan sets forth a vision for the future for downtown and the next 30 years, and as such is the plan where we can accommodate growth and investment in the future of downtown as the place where everything happens,” said Harry Weiss, Executive Director of the Downtown Development Authority.

City council will vote on the plan at this Wednesday’s council meeting. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the City Hall auditorium.
