GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. It's hard to avoid the hot summer sun when you livelihood involves anything but an air-conditioned room.
The above average temperatures we're experiencing this week are taking their toll on anyone involved working in the great outdoors.
According to a report by the CDC, those with occupations such as construction, field, or patrol work are more likely to be dehydrated or develop a heat-related illness.
"Sometimes I'll stop sweating completely because I'm totally dehydrated, and I'll pound water and then immediately start sweating again. That's how I know I'm dehydrated,” says Justin Thompson, a construction worker.
Staying hydrated is important, but too much of a good thing can also harm your health.
Experts say it's advised to drink two to four glasses of water when you're outside during warm weather.
However, exceeding 48 cups of water in 24 hours or less can throw off your body's sodium and electrolyte levels.
