Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) – Cyclists get your bikes ready for another Tour of the Moon ride in Grand Junction. The inaugural tour of the moon ride took place this past October. On Tuesday, at the Grand Junction Visitor and Convention Bureau board meeting, officials announced to the board that a permit request to hold the event again in 2013 has been submitted to the National Park Service.
"We’re very excited about a route change next year that will have riders going from west to east rather than east to west which we think will make the race a little bit better and spread the riders out more." says Barbara Bowman of the Visitor and Convention Bureau.
Over 1900 riders rode in the October 2012 ride. Now approval is needed from the National Park Service, to have the ride again in 2013.
