GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – One local program hopes you give back to your community for your New Year’s resolution.
Riverside Educational Center, an after-school tutoring program, is searching for more than 80 volunteers to tutor its K-12 students during the 2013 spring session.
Tutors would need to devote one to three hours a week to their students.
The center needs K-5 grade tutors on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4:20 to 5:30 p.m. They also need tutors for grades 6-12 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:15 to 5:30 p.m.
If you’re interested in helping out, new volunteer training will be on Jan. 7, 9 and 10 at 5:30 p.m. at Riverside Educational Center, 552 West Main Street.

The Riverside Educational Center offers tutoring, extra-curricular activities, high school mentoring and case management to students who are academically and financially qualified.
To participate, students must be enrolled in the free/reduced lunch program and must not be meeting grade-level expectations.
