Mesa County, Colo. – Deputies with the Western Colorado Drug Task Force stopped a vehicle going westbound on I-70 where two males were found with heroin and a large amount of cash yesterday afternoon.
The driver was identified as 41-year-old Samuel Leon-Ruiz and the passenger, 22-year-old Yahir Ruiz-Cota. Both consented to a search of the vehicle. A hidden compartment was located with approximately 5.2 pounds of heroin and cash.
Leon-Ruiz stated that he was previously convicted of trafficking three pounds of cocaine in Arizona. Both men are charged with money laundering and distribution of drugs related charges.
