GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Police Officers were following kids up and down the aisles of Walmart Thursday morning, but not because they were in trouble.

11 underprivileged elementary school students were actually chosen to be apart of the hop with a cop event.

Each kid got $150 funded by Walmart and the Grand Junction Police Department to spend on presents for their families for the holidays.

After being treated to breakfast at Mcdonalds, kids wandered the aisles to mark gifts off their Christmas lists and even picked some stuff out for themselves.

Another Shop with a Cop event is scheduled for December 11th at the Mesa Mall.

The GJPD is taking donations from the community to fund next years events.
