VA Medical Center looking for veterans to honor

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - The Department of Veterans Affairs is looking for local families of fallen military and veterans who were awarded a "V" device for valor.

Grand Junction will host its first Valentines for Veterans concert at the Avalon Theatre on February 14th at 6:00 PM.

The concert is one of fourteen which will take place throughout the United States to show gratitude to veterans and Gold Star families.

"America owes a debt that can never be paid to these families and these veterans," said Paul Sweeney, VA Medical Center, "but this concert acknowledges that debt, and I think that is what we need to do."

Gold Star families and veterans who have received a "V" device or Soldier's Medal are asked to contact the VA Medical Center by February 1st in order to be honored.

Veterans, families of veterans, and the general public are all welcome. Admission is free. Tickets will be available at the Grand Junction VA beginning January 23rd.
