Vehicle vs. bike crash sends woman to hospital

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – A woman is in the hospital after she was hit by a vehicle while riding her bicycle.

The cyclist was crossing Orchard Avenue just west of 12th Street when she collided with a vehicle going westbound on Orchard, according to the Grand Junction Fire Department.

A witness says he saw the cyclist fly through the air and land hard on the ground. She wasn’t wearing a helmet, but he says it looked like her leg was injured.

She was still conscious when fire crews took her to the hospital.

Though the woman was using a crosswalk, she was not walking her bike at the time.

The driver has not been cited.
