Veterans Day Weekend giveaways

Plenty of businesses will be giving back and thanking our veterans and service members this weekend. A number of national and local restaurants are offering vets and active duty military free meals Sunday and Monday.

- Applebees will be giving service members a free signature entree on Sunday, November 11.

- Chili's will offer military members a free meal from a select menu all day Sunday.

- Golden Corral will give a free dinner between 4 and 9 p.m. Monday night.

- Hooters will be giving 10 free boneless wings with the purchase of a drink on Monday.

- Olive Garden will give a free entree Sunday from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. along with a $10 coupon for a return visit before January.

- Outback Steakhouse will offer a free Bloomin' Onion appetizer and drink to military members both Sunday and Monday.

- Texas Roadhouse will offer a free meal from a select menu both Sunday and Monday.

- Local restaurant 626 on Rood will give vets 10 percent off their total check Sunday from 4 until 9 p.m. and Monday from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m.

Other services are also being offered to veterans and military members for little or no cost.

- Home Depot will give all active duty personnel, veterans and their families a 10 percent discount off purchases up to $2,000.

- Lowe's will offer active, reserve and retired military a 10 percent discount during the three-day weekend on purchases up to $5,000.

- Sam's Club locations nationwide will distribute Hugo canes free of charge this weekend to U.S. military vets in need of mobility assistance.

- Grand Junction area Supercuts Salons will offer free haircuts for vets and active military members on Sunday.

- The Avalon Theatre in downtown Grand Junction will offer vets free admission to the movies. It will be playing "Arbitrage" at 3:30 p.m. and 5:40 p.m.

- The BLM, National Park Service and U.S. Forest Service are waiving entrance fees to parks through Monday.

- Cabela's of Grand Junction will offer service members, local law enforcement, firefighters and EMTs its employee discount both Sunday and Monday.
