MESA COUNTY, Colo. So far the West Nile Virus has shown up in lab tests in mosquitoes in several Colorado counties ... including Mesa County.
The first human case of West Nile Virus in 2014 in Mesa County has been detected.
Across Colorado there have been five human cases detected inlcuding the one in Mesa County. No one has died from the virus in 2014.
Symptoms of West Nile include flu like symptoms as well as rash and swollen lymph nodes. The best way to protect yourself from being bit by mosquitos is to use insect repellant with deet. Dress in long sleeved clothing, drain any standing water on your property, and avoid being outdoors during dusk or dawn when mosquitos are at their most active.
