Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) – The Citizens for Clean Air Organization, partnered up with the Western Colorado Congress of Mesa County to hold a public discussion on the potential effects of oil and gas drilling in Whitewater.

A proposal by Fram Operating LLC, could bring up to 108 oil wells over the next 4 years into the area. The BLM is taking comments from the community to help determine how to proceed.

Currently the BLM has extended the deadline in which they’ll take comments on this issue until August 14th. They have already received 26 thousand comments.

Thursday nights public discussion had people who work in the oil and gas field for a living and those who live in the community and are concerned.

They say their biggest concern is with the air and water quality.
