Fruita, Colo (KKCO) --- The city of Fruita partnered with the Bureau of Land Management and the Lower Valley Fire District to promote fire safety in neighborhoods today at the annual Wildfire Preparedness Day of Service.
Volunteers came together near Little Salt Wash Park to rake leaves, cut down dead tree branches and clean up dead wood in an effort to prevent wildfires from affecting homes that backed up to this area.
Chief Frank Cavaliere of the Lower Valley Fire Department said they applied for grant money to get job corps and wildfire crews to help them with bigger trees that need more assistance in getting down.
