Winefest visitors head to wineries for final day

It seems the exhaustion from Saturday's Colorado Mountain Winefest didn't slow anyone down.

Colorado Winefest wrapped up on Sunday and local wineries prepared themselves for the last of the wine enthusiastic crowds.

Tasting rooms were still bustling with visitors because many had special events to entertain the remaining visitors before the festival wrapped up.

Wineries such as St. Kathryn's took advantage of the large amount of visitors by offering a marketplace complete with vendors, ample wine and two book signings.

"For the most part, the majority of grapes from all the wineries throughout the state come from the Grand Valley,” Colorado Wineries author Paula Mitchell said.

Mitchell says that events like Winefest are important to highlight and showcase Colorado- grown wine and that Colorado wines can now compete with California wines.

Winefest officials reported that the number of visitors reached over 5,000 people, and these numbers directly benefit local wineries. Many of them report that Winefest is their most profitable weekend in the entire year.
