DENVER, Colo. (AP) Authorities say one person was killed when a wrong-way driver slammed her vehicle head-on into another vehicle on Interstate 25 near downtown Denver.

The Denver Post reports the female driver was headed south on the northbound HOV lane near Auraria Parkway when she hit the other vehicle just after midnight Saturday. A passenger in the northbound vehicle was killed, and the drivers of both vehicles were injured.

Police spokesman Sonny Jackson says investigators are trying to determine if alcohol was involved in the crash.

Police have not released the names of those involved.
