Young child hit by car, seriously injured

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. A one-year-old boy suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car in his driveway this morning.

Colorado State Patrol is still investigating, and say just after 8:30 Wednesday morning the boy was backed over in the driveway by his father who was backing up the family Suburban.

It happened in the 200 block of West Hanover Circle.

No one knew the boy had gotten outside. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The boy's father, 35-year-old Robert Eatherton was ticketed for careless driving causing injury.

Drugs, alcohol, and excessive speed are not considered to be factors in the crash.
