GRAND MESA, Colo. It's about speed, technique and just having fun for some young Powderhorn ski racers.
"Being part of the Powderhorn Racing Club at any level is great because you get mileage on the snow, you get to learn how to ski better, which makes you safer, have more fun, and be more competitive down the road," said Jay Christianson, head coach for the Powderhorn Racing Club.
More than 70 children participate in the Buddy Werner racing program at Powderhorn.
Young skiers between the ages of 5 and 15 raced against the clock while improving their own skiing skills Sunday.
The top 10 finishers in each age and gender class get prizes at the end of the day.
Powderhorn Racing Club has a variety of programs for different skill levels.
