GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- Last time the Metro State Roadrunners played the the Colorado Mesa Mavericks, they proved themselves worthy of sitting in the top-3 of the nation. This time around, the women results were identical to the previous matchup, but the Mavericks men's team gave the fans a surprise.

Not only did the Lady Roadrunners outscore their Maverick counterparts by 38 points, but out-rebounded CMU by 20, as well. Alyssa Benson of Metro State led all scorers with 16 points and freshman Jenessa Burke added 10. Metro cruised to their 9th victory on the road and their 14th W in the conference, 78-40.

It was a different story for the men's game, where the Mavericks came out with a plan and they executed it. Once the game was tied at 24 at halftime, it was a matter of whether the Mavs could outlast the 3rd-ranked Roadrunners. Long story short, they could. Colton Burgon had a team-high 17 for Colorado Mesa as they upset Metro State, 64-47.
