GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Come halftime, the rivalry girls soccer game between Grand Junction and Fruita Monument seemed to be anyone's game, but Fruita had different plans.
It took nearly ten minutes to add another goal to the scoreboard, but Sarah Benton got it done with a shot that slowly rolled off the hands of Guadalupe Torres and into the net. Seconds later, Fruita's Ella Hartshorn got the steal and sent it down to Courtney Coffey who delivered her third goal for a hat trick.
Coffey still had more in her. After Baseley McClaskey got the ball, it was deja vu straight down to Coffey who pulled ahead for her fourth goal of the night and a 6-2 lead.
Fruita Monument would add two more goals while Elie Bardie and the Wildcat defense kept Grand Junction quiet for the second half, in turn earning their third SWL win 8-2.
