GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- According to the Director of Grand Junction Parks and Recreation Dept., Rob Schoeber, the facelift of the Lincoln Park sporting complex is right on schedule.

The project was projected to cost the city a total $8.3 Million, which Schoeber also says the contractors are still on-track with.

The new complex with be equipped with: brand new concession stands located underneath the seating areas, televisions hanging from the walls inside of the concessions area, new bathrooms, a new administration facility for the Grand Junction Rockies, Wi-fi capabilities for both the football and baseball facilities, new dugouts, new press boxes, and handicap accessibility throughout the complex.

The first major event to be held in the renovated complex with be CMU's commencement, which is slated for May 12th - just four days after the new stadium is scheduled to open.

Although construction will still be underway, track season events will continue to be held at Stocker Stadium. Practices for those teams begin on February 27th. However, high school and collegiate baseball games will be moved to Canyon View Park until construction is complete and Suplizio Field is rendered playable.

Schoeber says the renovations to the field will accommodate fans with a higher-quality spectating experience and he looks forward to what the new sports complex can bring to Grand Junction.
