Reporter: KKCO 11 News

A man is dead after his Land Rover travels off of an icy road.

It happened around 6 p.m. Saturday evening. Authorities say a 43-year old driver from Breckenridge was traveling eastbound on Forest Service Road 700. It was icy and snow packed at the time.

At some point the SUV traveled off the roadway before rolling 134 feet down an embankment. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the car as it rolled. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash. CSP reminds all drivers to buckle up and drive safely this winter.
