Money for Mended Little Hearts
One local girl with a big heart proved you are never too young to start helping others. Nine year old Emily Kesterson organized a bake sale to raise money with one special family in mind.
"She just wants to help people," said Emily's mother Shaylynn Burchett.
Emily has been donating to the local chapter of a non profit organization, Mended Little Hearts, for the past couple of years.
"Mended little hearts is national non profit dedicated to the advocacy and support of families impacted by congenital heart defects," said Mended Little Hearts Coordinator Angela Wickersham.
"When my friend lost her child her first thing was, what can I do now mom," said Burchett.
Money raised at the bake sale today held at Carvilles Auto Mart will be given to family friends through Mended Little Hearts. Carvilles has also offered to match the money raised.
Emily will hold another fundraiser next weekend.
