Anonymous the problem is big government in bed with big corporations and ushering in the valley Big Businesses(Walmart Trash stores) that shut down locally owned private sector businesses! Local governments beholden to the federal grant sugar daddy then compete against these same small businesses all on the local taxpayer dime. When your sugar daddy government starts picking winners & losers and starts caving to the liberal energy killers (who by the way drive gas powered cars and burn electricity and natural gas in their homes) and drive the PRODUCERS that FUND big government out of the area, they simply move to more inviting states!!! Phil Mikelson and Tiger Woods both recently admitted they can no longer support the State of California due to being taxed into slavery! But hey anonymous why don't you just move there! It sounds like the perfect UTOPIA for you!!!
Who are the top employers in Mesa "Welfare" County??? The County, the City, the school district, the college, State of Colorado, Walmart, and the hospitals!!! 9394 employees @ all the above versus 700 at Haliburton. But I bet you have stock in your government retirement account invested in all these energy companies!!!

Not surprised. This community needs to realize that it can not depend on the Oil n Gas industry to survive. When the boom happens, they bring in thousands of people to fill the jobs. Then when the bust happens, (about every 2-3 yrs) those same people are laid off and left here to fend for themselves. Its time the local governments start looking elsewhere for stable employment. Bring in some manufacturing companies with tax incentives. This area is prime for development of high tech companies with the current salary per capita. Until we boot Halliburton and EnCana out of this area it will always be know as Grand Junktown, and Meth County. It's time to get rid of the Oil Patch Trash!!
