County asks for feedback on fairgrounds master plan
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- The Mesa County Fairgrounds are set for a face lift. Now that a master plan is drafted, officials are looking for your opinion on the proposed changes.
The county has poured over feedback, leading them to a plan with three phases. The first two phases are expected to take between two and four years to finish.
The three phases include the following:
Proposed West End development:
Infrastructure of new roads, irrigation upgrades, detention and drainage improvements.
Reconfiguration of parks to include horseshoe pits, restrooms, parking and more.
Relocation of BMX facility
Reconfiguration of Little League area
Proposed East End development:
Reconfiguration of parking areas and more RV parking
Addition of open-air arena
Addition of two new stables with 90-100 stalls each
Proposed Central development
Addition of 30,00 square-foot exposition hall
Addition of 5,000-seat main event arena
Additional stalls (if needed after East End development)
"Adding new facilities, new amenities that people in the community feel we need, and that would have an economic benefit and bring in dollars and jobs to the community," PR director for Mesa County Jessica Peterson said.
An open house to review drafts continues Wednesday from noon until 2 p.m. The master plan is expected to be finished by next month, where it will go before the county commissioners.
