CSU wants to hear farmers' experience with drought

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) -- Researchers at Colorado State University want to hear from farmers across the state who have been affected by this year's drought.
The Fort Collins Coloradoan reports (http://noconow.co/Ur5rFD ) CSU agricultural economists want to gauge the full impact of the drought in hopes of designing new tools to more effectively weather future dry spells.
Farmers have until Jan. 1 to contribute to the project, called "Telling the Story -- Drought in Colorado."
The economists want to hear from the 6,000 farmers in Colorado that have an annual income of more than $100,000 -- the producers, researchers say, that form the core of the state's agriculture industry.
Project leader James Pritchett says feedback from farmers "helps us design assistance going into the future."
