Local dentist offers 'more affordable' dental plan

Many forgo dental work each year because they don't have the finances to pay for it.

Now one dentist in the Grand Valley is working to make it more affordable.

Dr. Eric Benefield of Grand Dental is helping patients get the dental care they desperately need with the "My Personal Dentist" program.

For a flat fee once a year, patients can get all of the dental care required, from cleanings to fillings, crowns and root canals.

"There's no way we could've done it. That's why we haven't been to a dentist in over 20 years because we just couldn't afford it. And then they just came up with this program; it was just wonderful for us. It was just a God-send. I mean it really is," said current patient Mary Clayton.

So far 72 people have joined the program at a rate of $75 per month.

Dr. Benefield says it's a no-brainer option for people without dental insurance and can also help people who have hit their insurance maximum.
