Anthony Sanders looking forward to new job in GJ
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- Anthony Sanders will have one thing in common with his players on the GJ Rockies lineup this summer because he'll be a rookie, too.
Sanders has spent the past seven years as a hitting coach for the Tri-City Dust Devils, the short-season single-A affiliate for the Rockies.
The new manager for the GJ Rockies spent 16 seasons in professional baseball, 12 of them in the minors of the minors.
He said his former co-workers in Tri-City are envious of his opportunity to manage in Grand Junction.
"I heard the fans are great and the community is behind the team," Sanders said, "A lot of the guys in Tri-City were a little bit jealous because [players] were getting treated like big-leaguers [in Grand Junction]."
Sanders is the father of three sons, and lives in Tuscon, AZ, during the off-seasons.
