Fruita stars Grasso, Griggs commit to WSCU

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- Fruita Monument seniors Zac Griggs and Vince Grasso have verbally committed to attend Western State Colorado University.

The two Wildcats visited Western State's campus last weekend and committed to play for the Mountaineers by Monday.

Grasso says he expects to play running back for the Mountaineers while Griggs, who played offense and defense for Fruita Monument, will focus strictly on being a wide receiver.

The two mentioned that going to school together played a part in their decisions.

"I had a feeling Zac really liked [Western's campus] ... so I was hoping he would go there," Grasso told KKCO 11News Sports Director Phil Stafford on Friday.

"[Grasso] texted me and he said he was a 'Mountain man,'" Griggs said, "I was excited and I wanted to go there, [that's] when I knew."
