UPDATE: X Games snowmobiler in critical condition

ASPEN, Colo. (KKCO) - Snowmobiler Caleb Moore, 25, is now in critical condition just four days after his snowmobile accident during the X Games.

Family spokeswoman Chelsea Lawson said that "Caleb is in critical condition and is being closesly monitored. The Moores want to express their gratitude to all of Caleb's fans, friends and family for their strong support, and ask for continued prayers in the coming days."

Moore underrotated a backflip during the Snowmobile Freestyle Finals on Thursday, and the 450-pound snowmobile came crashing down on top of him.

After getting up and walking off the course, he was rushed to Aspen Valley Hospital with a concussion. Later doctors discovered bleeding around his heart, and he was flown to St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction for emergency heart surgery on Friday.

He remained in intensive care for a heart contusion. On Sunday, the cardiac injury led to secondary complications involving his brain.

Caleb Moore and his younger brother Colten Moore, 23, began their X Games journey in Aspen in 2010. Caleb has since taken home three Winter X Games medals including the bronze in last year's Snowmobile Freestyle event. His brother Colten took the gold.
