GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- The Colorado Mesa football coaching staff had a massively successful day for their first true signing day.

Mavs head coach Russ Martin and his staff completed their first full recruiting season with 55 players choosing CMU as their university of choice.

Amongst the myriad signees are western Colorado standouts like Luke McLean (LB) out of Palisade, Jacobe Galley (RB) out of Hotchkiss, and Logan Holmberg (OL) from Glenwood Springs.

Martin and his staff also signed four Colorado state champions in Austin Beswick (OL) of Monarch (4A), along with Valor Christian's Cameron Gray (RB), Daryl Hawkins (RB), and Levi Waddell (TE).

"Part of our objectives as coaches is to recruit somebody that's better than [our current players]," Martin said on Wednesday.

"On paper, this [recruiting] class is as good as any I've been associated with," he added.
