GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- Palisade High School is sending two star athletes to the hometown university.

Spencer Jackson (soccer) and Luke McLean (football) commemorated their commitments to Colorado Mesa in a signing ceremony on Wednesday.

Jackson says picking CMU was easy because he's played for Mavericks soccer coach Josh Pittman for the past several years on his club team.

McLean told KKCO 11 Sports he chose the Mavericks because he likes what he sees from second year head coach Russ Martin.

McLean also said he will be giving up his offensive skills as a quarterback to focus solely on becoming a full-time linebacker for CMU.
