Fire Weather Concerns

Now that a dry air mass is starting to settle over the Western Slope humidity levels will be dropping off considerably during the afternoons. On top of that, a closed low in the Pacific Northwest will support strong winds today and tomorrow. Winds will be out of the southwest pulling in the dry desert air. These ingredients, combined, will result in elevated fire danger the next several days. As a result the NWS has issued a RED FLAG WARNING for all of Western Colorado through 10pm Thursday. Open burning has not been banned but is highly discouraged through the next 48 hours.

We will remain very warm heading through our final days of spring. With summer approaching on Friday it will certainly feel the part this week and into next week. Highs will stay steady in the low to mid 90's and morning lows will dip down into the mid 50's to low 60's through the middle of next week.
