Fans from near and far enjoyed the second and final night of Rock Jam performances. All of them share the love of rock and roll as well as making a friend or two along the way. KKCO 11 News round out what makes them come back year after year.
You'd think the best part of rock jam would be the music, but these fans say meeting new friends from around the state is what really makes Rock Jam a memorable time.
"I really enjoy all these people,” fan Jarold Darrel said. "Most of them aren’t from here and I can meet new people and enjoy it."
Darrel is a Rock Jam veteran, and he says the people he meets here couldn't be more laid back.
“A lot more mellower enjoyable people, they come here to actually enjoy them selves instead of just get drunk," he said.
For many Rock Jammers, this event is a bonding experience, a time meant to share with others.
Ranette Karl has been coming to Rock Jam the past four years. You could say it's a tradition.
"It’s our annual girls get away," Karl says of the annual event. "[We] load up in the camper and we come for the weekend. No husbands, no kids."
Darrel and Karl can agree on one thing: Rock Jam is its own community.
"[Rock Jam is] kind of like a little community honestly. We are all out here for a reason. We are out here to enjoy ourselves and were all out here for that same reason, the bands and it’s easier to get along with people," Darrel said.
"Everybody is really friendly and it is like a community," Karl added.
They say if you've never experienced Rock Jam before, you're missing out on a rockin' time.
In the past two days, Rock Jam has had rock and roll legends Motley Crue and KISS as well as Theory of a Dead Man and 3 Doors Down. Rock Jam officials say that since this year was so successful, it opens the doors for being bigger and better next year.
