Wright to hold Monday press conference to address former job

House District 54 candidate Jared Wright resigned from his job as a Fruita police officer last week. Now, he's holding a press conference to explain what happened.

The press conference will take place at the Mesa County Republican Party Headquarters on Monday, July 30, at noon. Wright has invited the community and media to attend.

In a press release, Wright said, "I believe in personal integrity and the full transparency of those who seek to hold public office. For this reason, I personally extend an invitation to the media and all interested, concerned citizens to join me Monday at Republican Headquarters."

The City of Fruita declined to comment on Wright's resignation, saying it was an internal personnel matter. Wright told KKCO 11 News last week it was an issue about being late for work, and says the issue was blown out of proportion.
