GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- The Central Warriors might be the most improved team since the start of the season, but they came up one point shy of their 4th straight win, losing to Montrose 55-54 in an SWL game at CHS on Friday.
Central (4-17, 2-6) overcame a 6-point deficit to tie the game at halftime, 27-27. But Montrose (15-5, 5-3) used its size and experience to outlast the Warriors.
On the girls side, the Warriors kept things close for the first 13 minutes of the game, trailing 17-15, but Montrose pulled away in the second half, beating Central 57-27.
Kaylee Walker led the Indians (17-5, 7-1) with 13 points while Madison Gurule and Kala Keltz had 10 points each.
Brittany Hoppe led the Warriors (2-18, 0-8) with 11 points while Jordan Eller pitched in with 9 points.
