FRUITA, Colo. (KKCO) -- Friday's game against Montrose might as well be tabbed a playoff game for Fruita Monument. If the Wildcats win, they'll be one of the last teams to make the 5A playoffs. If they lose, they'll need help.

As of October 27th, the Wildcats are 31st in wildcard points with 80.000. Rocky Mountain is 33rd at 79.250. The Lobos play Poudre (ranked 36th) on Friday.

In 2010, Fruita Monument topped Montrose 28 to 24, keyed by a Zach Thorpe touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter. The Wildcats will be without Thorpe on Friday, after the senior quarterback suffered a concussion in last Friday's loss to Grand Junction. Thorpe will return to practice on Monday.

In the meantime, senior Grant Black and sophomore Jake Lynch will split time under center for FMHS. For more on the FMHS QB situation, click on the second video link above.
