GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- The Central Warriors nearly let one slip away in Montrose, but thanks to a late rally, CHS held on for a 10-9 win.
The Warriors (10-4, 3-2) got out to a 5-0 lead against Montrose (3-8, 1-5). But the Indians chipped away for six runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings capped off by a Nate Robertson two-run home run in the fifth.
Central answered immediately in the sixth inning by putting up five runs. Taylor Haynie had the go-ahead single to score Aaron Reece. Reece had two big triples in the game and Dane Barslund got the win for Central.
The Warriors will play Fruita Monument on Thursday while Montrose will take a break from league to play a double-header against Delta next Tuesday April 19.
