(AP) - It's one week until the Super Bowl, which is expected to draw the largest crowd ever for an NFL game and also present a major security undertaking.
FBI Special Agent Robert Casey bears the security responsibility and he says his teams of bomb squads, SWAT teams and investigators are ready to keep an expected 105,000 fans safe. Casey says the excitement should be on the field, and nowhere else.
The other complication is that events are spread out. The game is in Arlington, Texas. But the NFL experience is in Dallas while major parties are on tap in Fort Worth and one team hotel is in Irving.
Casey says everyone is “very confident this will be a hard security shell around this game and we have the processes in place to detect any plan to cause a problem.”
The various agencies involved have been practicing, just like the teams.
