GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) The NFL Kickoff Game brought in plenty of excitement for football fans. It marked a fresh start across the board, a chance for redemption.

The Denver Broncos had the opportunity to start the season off opposite the defending Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens, and they finished with a dominating 49-27 victory.

Surprisingly, the Broncos trailed 17-14 heading into halftime, but Peyton Manning soon left that in the dust.

The Broncos outscored the Ravens 21-0 in the third quarter, making many quickly forget about last season's double-overtime loss against the reigning champs. Peyton paved the way with a career-high and NFL record-matching seven touchdown passes.

However, Manning wasn't the only bright spot. Tight end Julius Thomas was a huge factor early on. A third-year player who has been a bit underestimated gave critics something to watch. He put out 97 receiving yards in the first half, the most by any Denver tight end since Shannon Sharpe's 154-yard first half game opposite Carolina. Thomas finished the the night with 110 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

All in all, the Denver Broncos looked like a solid team on both sides of the ball. They move to 1-0 in the regular-season and will face the New York Giants September 15th on the road in a brotherly duel.
