The Colorado Department of Transportation says a rock slide has blocked Highway 141 eleven miles North of Naturita and it could be days before the road is reopened.
Randy Austin of Grand Junction sent us this picture of the rock slide.
A pile of rocks completely covered the highway. CDOT crews worked all day to open one lane for emergency vehicles only.
A geologist from Denver and a blast consultant have been called in to determine whether or not a standing free face will need to be brought down. It is cracked and officials say it looks as if it could fall at any time.
If the free face remains standing, the road could be open within four days. If it needs to come down, it will be a week to ten days before Highway 141 will be open.
