A local man is safe this morning after apparently falling asleep behind the wheel.
Officials found the driver passed out in his SUV filled with smoke in a grocery store parking lot. It took fire fighters a minute to get the man to come to, and get him out.
Someone called 911 after seeing smoke pour out of the car at the City Market parking lot on 28 1/4 Road and North Avenue. Officials say it appears the man fell asleep with his foot on the accelerator. He was given a sobriety test and then sent home in a cab.
