An overnight standoff ends with the death of a Clifton man.
50 year old Steven Higman had barricaded himself in his apartment Sunday night after threatening his ex wife and her boyfriend. The Mesa County Sheriff's Office says they received the first call about Higman's threats at 11:30 Sunday morning, and he was eventually located at his apartment on 32 1/8th Road just after three P.M.
Deputies attempted to contact Higman for hours before the SWAT Team was called in at 11:30 P.M. All contact was unsuccessful and around One in the morning deputies say they heard a gun shot come from inside Higman's home. After the shot was heard the SWAT Team members made their way into Higman's apartment to find him dead.
