The Mesa County Treasurers Office wants residents to be aware of a scam after two home owners have brought in letters asking them to sell their home.
The Treasurers Office says the letters are from companies that are not in Colorado. The letters ask home owners to sell their homes after missing tax payments.
The Treasurers Office says it's even more strange that these two home owners were targeted because they are not delinquent in paying their taxes.
The office believes that this scam may be happening now because tax sales are starting all around the state.
In Colorado, home owners have three years to pay up on their taxes after the tax sales.
In Mesa County, 99-percent of the time home owners pay off their taxes before the three years is up.
