In good old Halloween tradition, young goblins and ghosts will be knocking on doors repeating the phrase "trick or treat" next week in hopes of scoring lots of candy, but Trick-or-Treating isn't as simple or safe as it once was.

This Halloween thousands of Grand Valley kids will race from house to house gathering as much candy as they can, and with the Sex Offender Registry getting longer and longer. Many kids will be out on Halloween with their parents in tow.

The Grand Junction Police Department does not have enough patrol officers to keep an eye on all sex offenders, they are giving out tips to help keep families safe. Always have an adult or older teenager accompany kids, carry a flashlight, do not go to unfamiliar houses, and always make sure that an adult checks all candy before it's consumed.
