The Delaware State University freshmen wounded in a campus shooting last month has died of her injuries.
Shalita Middleton from Washington, D.C. had been hospitalized with serious abdominal injuries since the September 21st shooting. Her family says she "struggled valiantly" but her injuries were too critical to overcome.
Another student, Nathaniel Pugh, from Washington was shot in the ankle in the same incident. A third freshman, Loyer Braden, is accused in the shootings and now faces a possible murder charge.
The University's president says the community is "grieving and deeply saddened" by Middleton's death.
