School District 51: A New Plan for Suspicious Packages

In just a weeks time, two local schools were evacuated because of a suspicious package. Now officials and law enforcement look at creating a new plan.

The event procedures manual maps out what role different agencies play in different emergencies. However, the manual doesn't have a plan for finding a suspicious package.

After the latest incidents at Grand Junction and Palisade High Schools, officials are discussing putting in writing what to do if more suspicious packages are found.

The specific protocol on dealing with suspicious packages should be complete next week.
