Paying $3.00 per gallon for gasoline could be coming by the end of the year.
Industry experts blame near– record oil prices. Refiners are paying top dollar for oil. A barrel of crude topped more than $92 on Friday. So far oil companies say they haven't been passing the extra cost on to consumers. That could change as refiners start producing heating oil and import more gas for the holiday travel season.
