Sheriff's Office Searches For Hours For 9-Year-Old Who Ditched School

A 9–year–old boy is in a lot of trouble with his parents after ditching school and giving them quite a scare.

The boy's family says the Thunder Mountain Elementary student skipped school and instead hung out a local video store and KFC all day.

The boy's mother began searching for him when she got a call from the school saying he never showed up. For hours the Mesa County Sheriff's Office canvassed and searched the area near his home and the school.

The 9–year–old showed up safe at home at around 4:30 p.m. saying he'd been at school all along.

Officials say it's unusual for a elementary school student to skip school, but everyone is just glad the boy is home safe and sound.
