Denver (AP) The Denver Post and the Associated Press filed a lawsuit Thursday asking the Colorado Supreme Court to unseal the indictment against a man suspected in the disappearance of his missing 6-year-old daughter.
The media organizations are challenging a ruling Monday by Arapahoe County District Judge Mark Hannen to keep sealed the indictment against Aaron Thompson of Aurora.
A grand jury in May indicted Thompson on several charges, Including fatal child abuse, conspiracy to commit fatal child abuse, false reporting and concealing a death. Authorities believe his daughter, Aarone, reported missing in 2005, is dead.
The Post and the AP want the State Supreme Court to declare Hannen's decision keeping the indictment secret unconstitutional under state and federal laws.
The Post previously challenged Hannen's decision in June to seal the indictment.
